Sushmita Sen Shares a Throwback Picture on the 29th Anniversary of Her Miss Universe Win
On 21st May 1994, Sushmita Sen etched her name in history books by becoming the first Indian woman to win the Miss Universe title. As she celebrates the 29th anniversary of her win, the former beauty queen took to Instagram to share a throwback picture of herself and an emotional note.

The throwback picture was clicked by late photographer Prabuddha Dasgupta, who Sushmita called an “epic man”.
Celebrating India’s First Miss Universe
Sushmita Sen noted in her caption that the image was taken exactly 29 years ago, when she was just 18 years old. The beauty queen mentioned that Prabuddha captured her raw essence in the photograph and proudly announced that it was India’s first-ever Miss Universe win.

Sushmita Sen spoke about the privilege of winning the Miss Universe title, saying that it still brings her to tears of joy. She thanked her fans for their love and support and expressed her pride in representing her motherland.

In a recent interview with Twinkle Khanna, Sushmita Sen spoke about how the first runner-up’s reaction to her crowning moment taught her grace.
