Abhishek Nigam expresses disappointment as Ali Baba: Ek Andaaz Andekha goes off-air

Abhishek Nigam, who replaced Sheezan Khan to portray the character of Ali Baba in Ali Baba: Ek Andaaz Andekha Chapter 2, revealed that he did not expect the show to end so soon. The show, originally titled Ali Baba: Dastaan-e-Kabul, is set to go off-air on June 10, leaving Abhishek shocked and upset.

The sudden decision

Abhishek joined the show in mid-January after Sheezan Khan’s arrest for abetment to suicide in Tunisha Sharma’s death case. In a recent interview, Abhishek expressed his sadness over the show’s sudden end. He stated, “This seems like a sudden decision. We were happy about the new entry and didn’t expect the show to end so soon.”

Respect for the decision

Despite the news of the show’s end, Abhishek spoke about how the cast and crew are working with the same energy and enthusiasm. He stated that they would aspire to give their best until the last day. Although it is difficult to part ways with the unit, Abhishek said, “We have to respect the decision and take it in our stride.”

A challenging and different role

Abhishek has mostly been associated with fantasy shows and period dramas like Akbar – Rakht Se Takht Ka Safar, Mere Sai — Shraddha Aur Saburi, Chandra Nandini, and Hero – Gayab Mode On. When asked if he’s interested in being part of a typical family drama, he replied, “I always look for something challenging and different.”

No competition with the original lead couple

Abhishek shared that he admired the original lead couple and never saw them as his competition. He said, “I didn’t want those who loved the original couple to hate me.” Abhishek added that he played the character of Ali Baba with conviction and achieved what he set out to do.

Starting from scratch

As for what the future holds for Abhishek, he said, “Let’s see what the future holds for me. For now, it will be starting from scratch.” Abhishek believes that even daily soaps follow the trend of introducing new elements to keep the audience engaged and is open to any new opportunities.

Despite the show’s end, Abhishek looks back at his time on the show with fondness and no regret taking up the role midway. The team intends to give their best until their final day of shooting.
